Meet the People Behind the Trust

United by a shared vision of compassion, hope and action.

Behind every charity are people who believe that kindness can change lives.

At Tsechen Tara Trust, we are united by a simple but powerful mission: to transform compassion into meaningful action, support those in need and inspire positive change for generations to come.

While each of us brings different experiences, skills and perspectives, we all share the same purpose.

To reduce suffering.

To build stronger communities.

To preserve wisdom.

To create hope.

To put compassion into action.

Meet the people behind the Trust.

Khenpo Jamyang Lekshey

Founder & Spiritual Guide

Khenpo Jamyang Lekshey has devoted more than six decades of his life to preserving and sharing the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism.

Ordained as a monk at just eight years old, he has dedicated his life to study, meditation and compassionate service. Over the years, he has become a highly respected teacher within the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, guiding countless students with warmth, humility and deep wisdom.

Khenpo formerly served as Head Abbot of the Sakya tradition’s principal monastery in Dehradun, India, where he was responsible for the spiritual guidance, education and welfare of the monastic community. He also served as the monastery’s Secretary, helping oversee the administration and daily running of one of the most important Sakya institutions in the world.

His vision inspired the creation of Tsechen Tara Trust.

For Khenpo, compassion is never simply something we feel. It is something we practise through our actions every day.

His aspiration is to build a charity that relieves suffering in practical ways while preserving the timeless wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism for future generations.

Whether teaching meditation, giving profound Buddhist teachings or quietly encouraging others through his own example, Khenpo reminds us that genuine compassion has the power to change lives.

His lifelong example continues to inspire our mission to transform Great Compassion into meaningful action.

Stuart Ryall

Co-Founder

Stuart Ryall co-founded Tsechen Tara Trust with the belief that compassion should always lead to action.

A Usui Reiki Master Teacher with a strong affinity for healing, Stuart has spent many years helping people through Reiki, meditation and personal development. He believes that true wellbeing comes from caring for both the mind and the heart, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to live with greater peace, purpose and hope.

Inspired by the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism and the guidance of Khenpo Jamyang Lekshey, Stuart’s vision is to create a charity that not only supports people through practical humanitarian work but also promotes mental wellbeing through meditation and mindfulness.

His long-term vision includes helping vulnerable people throughout the United Kingdom, supporting humanitarian projects in Tibet, Nepal and India, preserving Tibetan Buddhist wisdom and creating a Buddhist Retreat Village where people of every background can find friendship, inspiration and a place to belong.

Whether organising charitable projects, developing new initiatives or supporting the Trust behind the scenes, Stuart continually asks one simple question:

“How can we help?”

Tom

Meditation Teacher & Trustee

Tom has an extraordinary gift for helping people discover stillness.

A highly experienced meditation teacher with a naturally calm presence, Tom inspires people to quiet their minds wherever he goes. His warmth, humility and genuine compassion make people feel immediately at ease, whether they are attending their very first meditation session or have been practising for many years.

Those who spend time with Tom often leave feeling lighter, calmer and more connected.

His quiet wisdom has touched many lives.

One particularly moving example came when someone spent several hours talking with him. The conversation had such a profound impact that it inspired them to write a song and produce a music video dedicated to the experience—a heartfelt tribute to the peace, kindness and inspiration they had found in Tom’s presence.

His greatest wish is simple.

To help people discover the peace that already exists within themselves.

One Shared Vision

Although our journeys have been different, we are united by one purpose.

To reduce suffering.

To build stronger communities.

To preserve wisdom.

To inspire hope.

To transform compassion into action.

Together, we hope to create a charity that supports vulnerable people, promotes mental wellbeing, preserves the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism and builds a future where kindness becomes part of everyday life.

Because lasting change is never created by one person alone.

It is created by ordinary people choosing compassion.

And together, we believe compassion can change the world.
